ABOUT US

Masikhulumeni Madoda is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2014 by a group of Men from Matsulu community. The organization was officially registered as a Non-Profit Organization in 2015 with registration number 153-687 NPO. The reasoning behind the formation of the organization was to create a safe platform and environment for Men who are victims of gender-based violence to come out and report their cases.

Masikhulumeni Madoda was formed to also address the scourge of gender-based violence and to engaged Men who are perpetrators in most cases of gender-based violence. The organization has a number of intervention strategies that are aimed at addressing gender-based violence directed towards men, women, and children.

Vision & Mission

Masikhulumeni Madoda’s vision is to create awareness on gender based and the role that Men and youth can play in combating gender-based violence. The objective is to advance the equality of all genders in our society by providing a platform where gender-based violence issues can be raised.

Masikhulumeni Madoda works across the district of Ehlanzeni in partnership with government, civil society and other non-profit organizations to promote gender equality, prevent domestic and sexual violence, and reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS.

Organisational Philosophy

Masikhulumeni Madoda recognises that effecting sustained change to gender roles and relations requires addressing the forces that shape individual attitudes and community norms and practices – traditions and cultures, the media and the family – as well as underlying economic, political and social pressures.

Effective responses to gender-based violence and HIV and AIDS require organisations to develop multifaceted strategies and build relationships with both traditional and non-traditional partners. Thus Masikhulumeni Madoda works closely with a range of organisations and individuals including women’s rights organisations, social movements, government departments, sports associations, faith-based organisations, and media organisations. In addition, Masikhulumeni Madoda is committed to ensuring that programmes are informed by the perspectives and priorities of those working to advance the rights of all people living within the borders of South Africa e.g lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and intersexual communities, people living with HIV and AIDS, and refugees and migrants.
